This unique meeting was attended by more than 800 delegates. The academic content of the meeting was high-end, with a much-needed emphasis on creating a roadmap for the prevention of heart disease in India in the next decade. With a robust scientific content to boast, this conference was very well attended [Figure 2].
The conference was formally inaugurated in the evening of 26 September. The encouraging presence of the dignitaries, which included Dr. KC Goswami, Chairman Reception Committee, Dr. Ashok Seth, Organizing Chairman, Dr. Sundeep Mishra, Treasurer, CSI Delhi Branch , Dr. Geevar Zachariah, Convenor, Preventive Cardiology, Dr. Mrinalkanti Das, Honorary General Secretary, CSI, Dr. Santanu Guha, President-Elect, CSI, Dr. HK Chopra, President, CSI, and Dr. Amal K Banerjee, Past President CSI underlined the need for greater emphasis on preventive cardiology. Hon. Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Shri Nasseb Jung, launched the mission "Swastha Dil Swastha Bharat" and delivered the inaugural address [Figure 3]. The present dignitaries signed a commitment to the preventive cardiology movement. Dr. S. Ramakrishnan rendered the vote of thanks, and the meeting ended with the national anthem. The "Say No to 6 S" was the public message launched for a healthy heart [Figure 4].
The scientific program of the conference exemplified highest levels of academics, including path-breaking research and innovations to come out with preventive strategies. The innovative ideas contest, top abstracts, and new innovative prevention quiz were real new initiatives. The Innovative Preventive Jeopardy Quiz was conducted by Dr. PP Mohanan. The maximum credit for the success of the conference was due to its scientific program. Thanks to the scientific committee led by Dr. Geevar Zachariah, the plenary sessions saw some of the world's best minds deliberating on contemporary issues in preventive cardiology.
The main plenary sessions focused on current concepts such as "How to reduce cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality by 25% by 2025." With increasing complexities in the prevention modalities, be it education, implementation or intervention, the role of paramedical staff, including dietician, and nurses has attained a vital position in the current era. Recognizing this fact, CSI cardiac prevent, organized a half a day dedicated session for nursing professionals and dietician. A large area at the congress venue was earmarked for industry exhibition. A total of 24 stalls were put up where the industry could showcase their latest products.
CSI cardiac prevents started with a press conference on the Great India BP survey, and the event was well covered in the national press. In fact, it is one of the best-covered conferences in print media across the country. CSI cardiac prevent was the first meeting to be officially webcast on the CSI website.
By the time, we reached the end of the meeting, a sense of serenity enveloped our hearts with the realization of having accomplished the meeting successfully. The true success of the meeting, however, lies, in the realization of the dream of "Swastha Dil Swastha Bharat" for the benefit of India.
